Before I give you some GOOD NEWS… let’s recap this past Friday night:

FRIDAY, August 24th was a great night! Casa Circulo Cultural hosted its first Paint and Wine Night! It was held at Casa Circulo from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Our very talented art teacher Lourdes Morante-Mieses, or Lulu as we call her, was the instructor of the night. Maestra Lulu studied art at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills and she’s had her works of art in more than nine art expositions. She also has over 10 years of experience as an art teacher for kids. (Casa Circulo does have art classes for kids during the week, please visit our website for more information

The night included: a blank canvas, art materials, a glass of wine, and an awesome teacher. That night we painted a nature piece, with mountains, trees, grass, and a river.

Casa Circulo Cultural will continue to host a Paint and Wine Night on the third Friday of every month!! You don’t have to know how to paint and you don’t need experience because we will teach you step by step.

Follow our Facebook page at or our website at for the next Paint and Wine Night date and pricing and information.

On August 20, 2016 at the Veterans Memorial Center in Redwood City, Casa Circulo Cultural presented us with another spectacular concert – a tribute to Jose Jose.

Jose Jose is a Mexican singer, musician and occasional actor. He started participating in festivals and contests around Mexico City at a young age. "El Mundo" and "Mi Vida" were the songs featured on his first single, released in 1965. He then climbed the most important Latin charts with "De Pueblo en Pueblo," 1973's "Hasta Que Vuelvas," 1974's "Déjame Conocerte," 1975's "Sentimientos," 1976's "Paloma," and the 1977 smash "Gavilan o Paloma."

Casa Circulo opened the evening with a beautiful video introducing Jose Jose with a special voice message to Casa Circulo. The first song of the night was “Oberrura” played on the piano by our very own piano teacher Javier Pacheco. We also had performances by Rafael Turincio, Alfredo Gomez, and Sofía Rojas with Raúl D’Mauries on the bass, Josh Rauber on guitar and Daniel Rojas on the drums.

It was a night to remember!

Be sure to stay up to date through our Facebook page or website at for more information on up coming events. We would love to see you at the next one!

On Thursday, August 4th- We were honored to have our recently appointed Sheriff of San Mateo County, Carlos Bolaños visit our facility. We wanted to show him what we do here, the classes we offer, the hard work and love we put into Casa Circulo Cultural. We want to send him a huge thank you! Because of the support of people like you, we are able to continue helping and working with the community. We hope you enjoyed your visit!

July 23rd & 24th: We had the pleasure of having Ofelia Medina here at Casa Circulo. Medina is a Mexican actress, singer and screenwriter of Mexican films. On Saturday night Medina performed a theater piece written by Humberto Robles called La Noche Que Jamas Existio at the Veterans Memorial theater in Redwood City. Following her performance, Ofelia Medina gave an amazing acting workshop here at Casa Circulo on Sunday.

Thank you Ofelia Medina for visiting us!

July 31st: Master Ortiz and his Tae Kwon Do class traveled to a tournament. They had LOTS OF FUN! Friendly competition is always healthy. :)

Monday, August 1st: Casa Circulo Cultural was excited to install a traditional Tehuana dress hand made in Oaxaca, a pair of shoes, and some accessories for the Native Dress exhibit at the San Mateo County History Museum. A huge thank you to Quinto Sol for supporting and donating the dress for this project!

Make sure to go check out the exhibit at:

San Mateo County History Museum
2200 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063.

Monday, August 8th: Thank you to the San Mateo County History Museum for thinking of us for this project. We installed a traditional ALTAR for an exhibit also at the San Mateo County History Museum. One of the most important elements of Día De Los Muertos is the altar, it's an elaborate constructions to celebrate those family members who have passed away.

August 10th: Back in May (2016) Casa Circulo decided to start a new project– we joined the Redwood City Utility Box Mural Project. After the initial plans and sketches, we got approved and got to work! After hours of planning, drawing, painting, and lots of fun, we finished the box!

The box is designed by our very own Board Member, Victor Luna (pictured on the right during the first stages of the box).

Victor had help from some of our other talented artists from Casa Circulo to finish the project.

Make sure to go check out the box located at Jefferson Ave. and Marshall Street in front of Bank of America.
